About this Video
————————————————————————–

WordPress has a simple built-in option for password protecting pages. In a matter of minutes, you can add password protection to any post or page on your site.

If you visit the post editor, check the Status & Visibility section in the right sidebar. There you’ll see the Visibility option and the word, “Public.” Click on the Public link and you’ll see the option to add a password for the page.

While this option works great for quickly protecting a single post or page, you may want to add a plugin for more advanced protection. The WordPress Password Protect Page Plugin can be used to add multiple passwords to a page, require a password to access any page on your site, and hide sections within a post/page with a password.

If you need to hide widgets on a password protected page, check out the Widget Options Plugin.

When using a password to block a page, please keep in mind that this isn’t the most secure way to protect content on your site. Passwords can be easily shared and leak. For content that truly needs to be secure, you should require visitors to create accounts and login to your website.
